8-What is a Broken Spirit?

    In a previous article, I discussed repentance and what it means to turn around. Let’s look at King David, for he knew how to repent. After grievously sinning, he wrote in Psalm 51:17, “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, God, You will not despise.”

Sometimes, the Lord has to break our spirit, like horse training. It was wild and dangerous for its riders until that horse began to work with you, obeying your commands. We have a wild and unruly side to us, and the Lord has to break us, or He will be unable to use us.
