Borea Jenssen and Harry Johnson NAC-120

Note: Borea Jenssen was the youngest sister of my great-grandmother Jensine Nelson. This article is an excerpt from the Jensen-Nelson Family in America written by David Crankshaw and Dean Huseby.

Borea Jenssen was born on 12 April 1865 in Kristiansand, Norway. She was the oldest daughter of Børre Andreas Jenssen and Andres Thomine Olsdatter. She came to America as a young woman accompanied by her brother, Ole (William J Hastie) Jensen, who paid for her passage. She probably had heard stories of the hardships endured on the Minnesota frontier and Indian attacks. This was too scary for a "city girl." Therefore, she let her brother travel west while she stayed in New York City and worked as a cook and housekeeper.
