I grew up in Whittier, California, near two wonderful Norwegian-American families - the Sevolds and the Gundersens/Thorseims. I always considered them cousins but never knew exactly if that was true. I knew our ancestors grew up together on Bømlo Island, Norway, and settled in Iowa. For that reason, I wanted to prove, once and for all, whether or not we were indeed cousins. I have finally made that connection with the Sevolds, but I am still looking for the Gundersen connection.
