Norwegian Folklore and Folktales NAC-145

Since I am a storyteller, I also love a good yarn (for my Norwegian cousins, yarn is not only thread for knitting but can be a story.). Like the thread, a yarn can unravel in time as the storyteller weaves his tale. Every culture has had storytellers telling their oral histories and stories for eons. However, it was not until the early 1800s, with the rise of European romantic nationalism, that these stories began to be recorded for posterity's sake. The publishing of fairy tales began with the Grimms Brothers in Germany. Their adventures are very familiar to us, with Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, and the Seven Dwarfs, to name a few.
