Recently I attended a Black History Month event, and the presenter lamented that white women benefited more from the civil rights movement than black men received. When I talked to my wife about it, she quickly pointed out that black men had the right to vote several decades before women, white or black. Therefore, in a sense, women had further to go toward equality than black men.
